Tubing
Past remote houses, monkey roar and Kogis, the indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada. With tubing, you can relax and drift on the Rio Palomino for two or four hours.
First a guide will drive you to the entrance of the nature reserve by motorcycle. After that, you can only continue on foot – around 45 minutes for the two-hour tour. It’s sweaty, but worth it. Because when you arrive at the bank, you sit in the tire and let the rapids (which are really not fast) and your guide does the work.
The river flows into the Carribean Sea in Palomino, where you can linger a bit at the end of the tour or walk along the beach back to the „Cabaña Chakana“.
Parque Tayrona
Tayrona Park is known for its palm-fringed bays, coastal lagoons, rainforest and rich biodiversity. If you are lucky, you will meet Pepe the crocodile. It is sometimes basking in the bay when it is not hunting police dogs – according to stories, it has already been successful twice.
In the heart of the park, you can explore the archaeological site of the Pueblito ruins via forest trails. Their terraces and structures were built by the Tayrona civilization and are somewhat reminiscent of the architecture of the Inca.
If necessary, you can also spend the night in the park, because one day is almost too little to visit all the beaches (and the walk is a little strenuous).
Palomino Beach and River
Palominos Beach stretches between two rivers and offers perfect waves for surfing – regardless of whether you are a beginner or advanced.
Those who like it a little quieter can watch the incoming tuber at the mouth of the Rio Palomino, watch toucans or other tropical birds in the sky or marvel at the sunset with a cocktail in the evening.
